...and tidings of COMFORT AND JOY
Updated: Dec 15, 2020
What. A. Year.
It's no secret that 2020 has been a dumpster fire am I right??? Whew chile!!! I. COULD. NOT. WAIT to enjoy some Christmas cheer. Many decided that there was no such thing as putting decorations up too soon this year and honey I'm not mad at 'em. I'm a huge fan of Thanksgiving so I decided to wait until after our Thanksgiving dinner to dive in.
When I tell you Thanksgiving barely made it out the door before we ushered in alllllll things CHRISTMAS. BAYYYBBEEEE there has been glitter everywhere and I love it. Who doesn't love a good sparkle?!
This year was monumental for me in that I usually hire a decorator at Christmas but thanks to "The Rona" that was a no go. Now you will learn this about me...I literally overthink EVERYTHING so imagine my reaction... Anywho, my honey said "Babe you got this"...(love me some him) and we tackled it all together. I have tried to build my decór from year to year by adding pieces from everywhere from Hallmark to Amazon to Dollar General, Kirkland's to The Dollar Tree, Home Goods to At Home and anywhere in between. I LOVE a bargain!
We made a plan, turned on the Motown Christmas album and got to work! It's something about hearing The Temptations sing "Silent Night" that makes the Christmas season OFFICIAL. What song is it for you that just screams Christmas? Another one for me is "Let it Snow" by Boyz II Men- ahhhhhh. Well it took us a while between working full time and managing the kids but in the end it was all worth it. We were pretty pleased with our labor of love. So many memories were made and the satisfaction of getting it all done made every hiccup worthwhile. Plus, if we made it through putting up Christmas decorations together we can probably make it through anything! 😂

I wanted a more cozy relaxed vibe in the Family Room and Kitchen as those are our main hangouts. LOVE LOVE LOVE my gorgeous Santa! Would you believe I snagged him at Dollar General last year for HALF OFF!? 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
The kitchen was a fun project. Honey give me ALL the buffalo plaid and little red trucks!
This year, I thought "Hey why not?!" and added the Master Suite to the Christmas decor list. We're spending more time at home these days so we should enjoy it right? I kept it simple but it makes me smile for sure.
In such uncertain times it's so comforting to enjoy the beauty of the lights, the time with our little family… Of course we will miss the chaos and joy time with our amazing extended family brings but we know the sacrifice is the safest thing to do and God- willing we can make phenomenal memories together next year. Until then, be sure to check back here to read about our fabulous Zoom Christmas ❤
Wishing you blessings and tidings of comfort and joy...
